Q: What language do they speak in Croatia?
A: Croatian, which is a slavic language utilizing the Latin
alphabet.
Q: Do you have to learn the language?
A: Yes, in order to best understand the culture, and to
deepen our understanding of the Croatian people we
will be learning Croatian.
Q: How long will you be there?
A: The theological answer to that question is as long as
God wants us there and no longer. We have a target
of at least ten years.
Q: Where will your children attend school?
A: We are planning on putting them in the Croatian
school system. We feel it is important that they
understand the culture they are in and feel as much
as possible a part of the community in which they live.
Q: Is it safe?
A: Yes, while there are still great needs in Croatia in the
aftermath of the war, Croatia is a safe democratic
country working its way into ascession in the European
Union.
Q: Where will you be living in Croatia?
A: While Croatia is famous for its beautiful coastland we
will make our home far inland in the city of Osijek
(pronounced O-see-yek). This is located close to the
southern border of Hungary, the northern border of
Bosnia-Hercegovina, and the eastern border of Serbia.
This northeastern section of Croatia is an agricultural
plain.
