Mission: Croatia

Mission

We are called to walk along side the Reformed Christian Church in Croatia and the Evangelical Theological Seminary.  We are honored to labor in the Croatian vineyard at this time of transition beside those who have so faithfully ministered through the era of communism and a subsequent regional war.  We hope to mutually exchange gifts of teaching, knowledge, hope, faith, and most of all love, in order that the Gospel and transforming power of Jesus Christ may touch all that we touch.

The task of our mission is threefold:

To facilitate and train new ministers through the Evangelical Seminary so that they may fill existing pulpits and establish new churches.

To assist in the editing and publication of English language material for the seminary, as well as provide English language instruction for seminary students.

To work with existing pastors and leaders in the Reformed Church in mutuality and to seek ways in which to further the mission, vitality, ministry, and outreach of the Reformed Christian Church in Croatia.

Our prayer for our ministry in Croatia is expressed best in the great peace prayer of St. Francis of Assisi:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
